On the 1st of December the annual World-AIDS-day is happening around the world. This day was organized from the UNAIDS, the AIDS-organization from the United Nations.
Düsseldorf - For the first time the World AIDS Day was established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the 1st of December 1988. The World AIDS Day was established in order to draw attention to the issue of HIV and AIDS and to show solidarity with people living with HIV and AIDS. Around the world, activities and events will be held to raise money for AIDS research, or educate the population on the issues of HIV and AIDS. Because AIDS is still a big issue. In Europe alone, the WHO estimates the number of HIV sufferers to around 2.2 million.
The infection of the HIV virus is being transmitted through the body fluids such as semen, vaginal secretions or blood. Most infections with HIV are held via unprotected sex or by sharing of syringes among drug addicts. Normal body contact may not lead to infection with HIV generally. However, injuries can increase the risk of infection.
