Number of traumatised soldiers rises

The Left criticise the handling of those affected

The number of Germany army soldiers who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) increased in the year 2015.

Berlin - In response to a request made by the Left party to the German government a report was made by the "Rheinischen Post" in which it was reported that in the year 2015 there were 235 cases of first-time PTSD patients. This amounts to an increase of around 15 percent compared to the previous year, when there were 204 reported cases of first-time PTSD patients.

The average waiting time for treatment lies between three and six months. The defense expert of the Left party Katrin Kunert said the handling of PTSD patients was shameful. She criticized that the patients were not reported after each operation even though the necessary information had been available for five years.
