A new golden book for the State Capital
The old one will go to the archives after 20 years
The state capital´s new golden book has a 160 pages and already has its first entry. Prof. Dr. Alexander Kluge was the first of many prominent personalities who will write new entries for the coming years.
Düsseldorf - "A golden book is used in communities and cities for honorary guests to write entries or sign while visiting the city. The description is symbolic but also literal as it depicts the gilded edge on the pages and also the gilded cover of the book." This is an accurate description of the book, an important symbol of the city. The first entry in the book by Prof. Dr. Kluge is not only the first signature, it also starts a new chapter in the history of the book.
The previous city "Guestbook" was ceremoniously opened with a signature by the Japanese Emperor Akihito in 1993, its last entry was written by the Brasilian ambassador Maria Luis Ribeiro Viotti. On the many pages one can find various celebrities from across the globe, including signatures by the German 2014 Football World Cup winning team, President of Germany Joachim Gauck and many other international politicians.
On Tuesday the 16th of December Thomas Geisel, lord mayor of Düsseldorf, Andreas Ehlert, President of the Chamber of Crafts and Dr. Axel Fuhrmann, General Manager of the Chamber, presented the new golden book. The golden book will now hopefully be filled with the signatures of different sports, political, arts and cultural personalities. xity is intrigued how long it will last this time.
