Spahn wants more critical distance to green party

CDU needs less tolerance for green party

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has told his party that they need more distance to the green party.

Berlin - “We are too uncritical about the green party“, said Spahn in an interview with the “Stuttgarter Zeitung“ on monday. “We should not let ourselves be misleaded by a few civil flagships.“ Spahn is one of the three candidates for the spot as party leader that was left by Angela Merkel.

While Baden-Württemberg´s prime minister Winfried Kretschmann (Grüne) is often right when it comes to topics like migration and integration, he does not have the majority in his party, said Spahn. When questions like safe countries of origin come up in the parliament the greens are against any new countries at all. “Someone like Kretschmann does not get the majority in the green party anymore because the majority are ideologues and moralists.“
