Dortmund - Around one and a half years after the bombing of the BVB team bus, the district court of Dortmund has now sentenced the defendant Sergej W. to 14 years in prison and was found guilty of attempted murder, using explosives and grievous bodily harm.
The bombing had sparked country wide uproars. W. had admitted to have deployed and exploded the three selfmade bombs. It is believed that he wanted to cause the BVB share to lose value which he had betted on before the bombing. However, he denied the attempt of a murder.
The bombing had left Dortmunds player Marc Bartra and a police officer that was driving in front of the bus with injuries.
